A stunning classy light that is modern without being chintzy-modern-cheap-looking. I've paired this clean modern look with some antique blue and white porcelain Chinese vases in a guest bathroom. The juxtaposing of modern lighting with the ancient vases makes the light stand out in stark relief while also not competing with the design elements expressed in the blue and white swirling of the antique vases. They both set each other off, in other words.I recommend you go with a simple styled mirror below the lights (if in a bathroom). A mirror with straight simple border or simple beveled edge. A A double set of simple round mirrors would look lovely under the square lights and add visual stimulation (the roundness) so there aren't too many square shapes in the room. Though a large sheet of rectangular or square mirror would also work. At first I had a more ornate mirror hung, with mother of pearl frame, and the mirror was an octagon with lots of flaring edges, and iridescence glitter and it was just all too busy. The mirror detracted from the lighting's clean lines and delicate jewel box weaving-- essentially making the lighting disappear in the room! It's that jewel box effect, with its silvery, icy, radiant effect that you want to display in its full glory as people enter the room. You definitely want this lighting to stand out and be a specimen piece in whatever room you place it, so don't have too many busy patterns up against it. The xenon light bulbs cast a 100% accurate color rendering of the painted walls and towels, even better than the LED lighting we had in there before. So keep the xenon bulbs even though they cost a bit more, they are still excellent at show casing skin tones and colors in a room while being energy efficient.Bought this fixture to use in a large Master bathroom with vaulted ceiling, on top of very large mirror. This was to replace a "builder's fixture" of "theater lights", which had 8 globe bulbs, 60w each. Although this fixture is very beautiful, and casts wonderful interesting shadows on the wall above it, the light it gives off is really not sufficient for a master bath. Old fixture ~ total of 480 watts. This one has 5 bulbs, 40w each ~ only 200 watts total. The low/soft light looks really nice, great that you see less wrinkles & grey hair...but for shaving or putting on make-up ~ not so good! This fixture was extremely well packaged/protected. No parts were missing. It was however rather difficult to install. Maybe just our skills ( or lack thereof ). Also, the protective plastic coating/wrap on the outer plate was EXCEPTIONALLY difficult to remove from around the sockets. We did not remove the plastic until AFTER the plate was mounted, in order to protect it from scratching, fingerprints, etc... Would probably have been easier to remove it FIRST ~ but then that really would have defeated the whole purpose. Anyway, really beautiful fixture, just does not provide much light! (probably better for a guest bathroom or half bath )I have bought and installed these lights many times and they are my go to for nicer bathrooms. The jewel boxes create a nice effect and the lighting level is perfect for a bathroom. These can be a bit tricky to install. The protective wrap is a bear to get off and you want to be careful because the lights are delicate and the housing scratches extremely easily. It isn’t rocket science but you definitely need to be patient putting these inBut it is worth it. The light makes the bathroom really shine, so to speak.Looks great. Only issue is that it does not ship w/ LEDs. That would be a < $10 replacement which is what I did. Well worth it! It's a pain to replace the bulbs however but given the beautiful appearance that results it's well worth it.Cheap, made in China, and came damaged. The finish is only seen on the front plate and looks cheap and unfinished on the sides. Considering the price tag- I’d expect much higher quality. Returned!easy to install, good light, beutiful design.prior reveiwer warned about "black smoke" marks in the celing above each light -- this could have been produced by not carefully removing the protective plastic behind the lights (sometimes it is disfficult to remove even with tweezers)We've also had a 4-light version of this light for about 2 years. We liked it so well that we ordered this longer (5-light) one for a second bathroom remodel. It looks great and is very easy to install. Really classy and I couldn't find anything comparable for any price at the box stores at all. Highly recommended to class-up your bathroom. In turning the globe while replacing a bulb the whole socket rotated twisting the wires and damaging the socket. I tried to get anther socket from the manufacturer Minka Group at (800) 307-3267 . They refused to help me. Now I have an expensive five bulb fixture with four light lighted. Either don't buy this product or be forewarned that you must be sure lock screws are very tight before installation or you want be able to replace the bulbs.
